While domestic rates include water, businesses in Scotland are charged for the amount of water used either from a meter installed on the property, or a figure based on the rateable value of the property. Businesses can choose which provider they pay these charges to. WebCouncil calculates a rate charge by multiplying your property's average rateable value by a dollar rate. The dollar rate used depends on your property's rating category, which is based on its main land use and in some cases, area of the land. From 1 July 2024, there are 92 rating categories.
